This is a collection of short stories which was first published in 1894, but this edition which I have was recently published in 2006. The short stories in this collection includes: Silver Blaze; The Yellow Face; The Stockbroker's Clerk; The 'Gloria Scott'; The Musgrave Ritual; The Reigate Squires; The Crooked Man; The Resident Patient; The Greek Interpreter; The Naval Treaty; and The Final Problem.
I absolutely loved it! I found myself trying to solve the mystery before Sherlock Holmes, but since the stories are told from Dr. Watson's point of view, we didn't know whet went on in Sherlock's head. We only knew about all the small clues he found, after the criminal has been exposed. And it amazed me how he put all the pieces of the puzzle together.
Doyle had a great way of telling his stories. when a victim came to Sherlock Holmes, Holmes always asked for a detailed description of events, so that he could get his clues out of it. This made it possible for us as readers to get into the loop as well.
Although these are juts short stories, they are filled with adventure, surprises and good humor.
These were only short stories, about 20 pages each. I would love to read Doyle's full length novels of Sherlock Holmes. It seems that there are four novels and four collections of short stories which I must still read. When I have found them, and read them I'll tell you what I think.
Happy reading!
